Parliament Registration Sees Slow Progress with 122 MPs Remaining Unregistered

Bangkok: MPs are gradually reporting to Parliament, with 122 yet to register. The Parliament opened the registration period for MPs 10 days ago, and despite the passage of time, a significant number of MPs have not yet completed their registration.

According to Thai News Agency, reporters covered the atmosphere as members of the 27th House of Representatives continued registering for duty on the 10th consecutive day. On this day, only four MPs registered: Mr. Wasawath Puangphornsri, list MP and leader of the Thai Ruam Palang Party; Mr. Kriangyos Sudlapa, list MP of the Bhumjaithai Party; Mr. Siriwat Khajornprasat, MP for Phichit Constituency 3 of the Bhumjaithai Party; and Mr. Chakphan Piyapornpaiboon, MP for Prachuap Khiri Khan Constituency 2 of the Kla Tham Party. This brings the total number of registered MPs to 377, out of the 499 MPs certified by the Election Commission (EC).

While 122 MPs remain unregistered, they comprise 119 from the People's Party, 1 from the Democrat Party, 1 from the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, and 1 from the Thai Bhakdi Party. The slow rate of registration has raised concerns about the readiness of the Parliament to commence its full functions.
