Passenger Bus Collision with Cement Truck in Khon Kaen Results in Two Fatalities and 30 Injuries

Khon kaen: A tragic accident occurred when a Bangkok-Khon Kaen passenger bus collided with the rear of a cement truck near a weighing station in Chot Nong Kae Subdistrict, Phon District, Khon Kaen Province. The incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to 30 others.

According to Thai News Agency, the crash took place at around 4:30 a.m. on Mittraphap Road, as the bus was heading north towards Khon Kaen. Rescue workers faced a challenging situation, using cutting equipment to extricate the bodies of the two deceased passengers, who were identified as a married couple, from the wreckage. The injured passengers were promptly taken to Phon Hospital for medical care.

Pol. Col. Peerachat Sakha from Phon Police Station reported that the bus, driven by Mr. Jarukit, 40, rear-ended the cement truck, which was operated by Mr. Thanapon, 24. Following the collision, both drivers underwent alcohol testing, which returned zero levels, suggesting that intoxication was not a factor in the incident. Authorities are currently collecting evidence and investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to ascertain its cause.
