Pathum thani: Police spent two days tracking down a lone gunman who robbed a gold shop in Pathum Thani of 52 baht worth of gold. All stolen items were recovered. The suspect was taken to the scene for a reenactment and confessed to being in debt from gambling. He is scheduled to be brought before the Pathum Thani Provincial Court tomorrow for remand.

According to Thai News Agency, the arrest of Mr. Banlue, 56, took place in front of a convenience store near Wat Prem Prachakorn in Pathum Thani province. A search of his house led to the recovery of all the stolen gold necklaces, weighing a total of 52 baht, along with the clothes he wore during the crime, a fake firearm, and the motorcycle he used. After abandoning his motorcycle near the Prem Prachakorn canal, Banlue took a taxi to the Bangkok Gold Yaowarat gold shop on September 13th to execute the robbery.

Authorities relied heavily on CCTV footage to track the suspect's movements post-robbery. It was revealed that Banlue adeptly switched between different modes of transport, including motorcycle taxis and regular taxis, to evade detection before returning to his parked motorcycle. The suspect, upon seeing media reports, opted not to sell the stolen necklaces.

Banlue admitted that his actions were driven by gambling debt and the impending repossession of his work vehicle. The targeted gold shop was familiar to him from previous delivery jobs in the area.

This morning, police facilitated a reenactment of the crime scene with Banlue, who was reportedly under significant stress and required close supervision by officers. The Pathum Thani gold shop expressed gratitude towards law enforcement and media for their prompt response, which led to the suspect's capture within two days. In response to the incident, the shop plans to increase security measures to safeguard against future occurrences.
