People’s Party Calls for Government Action Amid Middle East Tensions

Bangkok: The National Human Rights Commission has released a statement concerning the situation in the Middle East, urging the government to embark on three critical missions.

According to Thai News Agency, the People's Party has also issued a statement via their Facebook page, outlining their proposal for the government to focus on three key missions aimed at safeguarding the interests of Thailand and its citizens.

Over the past two days, the People's Party has expressed significant concern about the escalating tensions in the Middle East. They emphasized that this situation affects not only the involved parties but also the safety of individuals in many countries, including Thai citizens, as well as the global economy's stability and long-term international peace.

The People's Party highlighted the importance of respecting international law as a fundamental principle for coexistence in the global community. They expressed hope for an end to actions that escalate violence and stressed the need for prioritizing civilian safety and supporting peaceful dispute resolutions based on international law.

To ensure Thailand's best interests, the People's Party supports the government in addressing three critical issues. Firstly, they emphasize the urgent need to protect the lives and well-being of Thai citizens. The People's Party urges the government to utilize diplomatic channels to monitor the situation closely and prepare evacuation plans for Thai citizens in high-risk areas. They also recommend coordinating with dialogue partners and airlines to establish emergency travel routes and communicating accurate information about risks.

Secondly, the People's Party calls for measures to mitigate the economic impact on Thailand due to Middle East tensions. They encourage the government to prepare plans for coping with oil and gas price volatility, managing energy reserves, and monitoring the effects on trade and supply chains. Additionally, they suggest allocating resources to assist businesses and individuals in building resilience against external factors.

Lastly, the People's Party advocates for Thailand's active participation in restoring global order to ensure future security. They believe in maintaining a world order based on international rules and propose that Thailand coordinate with ASEAN and other powers to promote violence de-escalation and support negotiation mechanisms.

The People's Party hopes the government will leverage both domestic and international measures to assist Thai citizens, mitigating immediate impacts and fostering long-term confidence amid geopolitical volatility and risks.
