Permanent Secretary Dismisses Allegations Against Wife in Corruption Probe

Bangkok: The Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry has dismissed an audio clip linking his wife to a local government corruption investigation as baseless and unsubstantiated. The Prime Minister defended her, stating, "No need to ask anymore; her husband has confirmed he is not involved."

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul arrived alongside Permanent Secretary Arsit Sampanrat. When reporters attempted to interview Arsit, the Prime Minister encouraged him to speak, to which Arsit responded with a traditional Thai greeting and stated, "I'll answer the same way as the Prime Minister."

Arsit addressed the issue concerning the CSI LA Facebook page, which had released an audio clip implicating him and his wife in corruption related to local government recruitment exams. He stated that he didn't know how to explain something that wasn't true.

When pressed on whether he could confirm his wife's non-involvement, Arsit suggested that a person's background can be easily traced and that inquiries should be directed at the source of the information.

When asked about potential legal action given the seriousness of the allegations, Arsit stated that the accusations were baseless and did not merit attention.

Before Arsit could elaborate further, the Prime Minister interjected, "That's enough. No need to ask any more questions. The husband has already said that the wife is not involved."

When questioned about whether the news reports were a form of sabotage, Arsit chose not to respond. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister was asked how he intended to handle the events targeting the Permanent Secretary and whether they were still collaborating. He advised the reporters to think before asking further questions.
