Phang Yok Welcomes Third Calf at Nong Nooch Tropical Garden

Pattaya:A 17-year-old female elephant named Phang Yok gave birth to a healthy male calf at Nong Nooch Tropical Garden. The birth took place on October 24th at 255 AM, with the presence of mahouts and caretakers eagerly awaiting the event. The father of the calf is a 30-year-old elephant named Phlai Ning Nong.

According to Thai News Agency, this newborn is Phang Yok's third offspring and marks the third elephant calf born at the garden this year. The garden celebrated the occasion with a welcoming ceremony and named the baby elephant "Phlai Nongnuch World."

The ceremony, presided over by Phra Khru Kasem Kittisophon, the abbot of Wat Samakkee Banphot, featured traditional Thai rituals. These included the presentation of garlands, tying sacred threads, and anointing the foreheads of the mother and calf for good fortune. The event was further enlivened by a procession of dancers and over 30 elephants welcoming the new arrival.

The naming of the calf, "Phlai Nongnuch World," symbolizes a new chapter for Nong Nooch Tropical Garden as it transitions to "Nongnuch World Pattaya," aiming to enhance its status as a family-friendly tourist destination.
