Bangkok: Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports and Secretary-General of the Pheu Thai Party, has indicated that the party is actively waiting for the People’s Party to make a decision regarding support for Mr. Chaikasem Nitisiri, the party’s candidate for prime minister. Sorawong emphasized the party’s commitment to proposing ideas that they believe will benefit the nation, while acknowledging that the formation of a government will likely result in a minority government, depending on the People’s Party’s decision.
According to Thai News Agency, when queried about the possibility of dissolving Parliament if the People’s Party does not accept the proposed conditions, Sorawong explained that such a decision falls under the purview of Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. Acting on behalf of the Prime Minister, Phumtham has the authority to submit his opinion for royal endorsement, but it remains uncertain if this will take place.
The issue of dissolving Parliament was a topic of extensive discussion at a Pheu Thai Party meeting on September 2nd. It is anticipated that party members will continue to voice their opinions as the situation develops.
