Bangkok: "Chulaphan" confirms that Pheu Thai will not field a candidate for Bangkok Governor, while discussions regarding Bangkok City Council members are pending. Preparations are underway for the general meeting this Friday. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Minister of Labour and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, stated regarding the Bangkok gubernatorial election that the Pheu Thai Party will not field a candidate, as was the case in the previous election. He explained that the Pheu Thai Party, being a national party, is currently focusing on broader policy initiatives. Since his appointment as a minister, he has prioritized human capital development, with Bangkok being a key focus. However, he emphasized that local development is not yet being delved into, prioritizing a free and open competition and allowing citizens the freedom to choose. Regarding whether the party will field candidates for Bangkok City Council, he said this needs further discussion and no decision has been made yet. Meanwhile, a meeting of Pheu Thai party leaders was held today (April 20th) to discuss the agenda for the 2026 Annual General Meeting on April 24th. At that meeting, the party leader will present his vision to members and the public, outlining the party's direction and future strategies, including its composition, structure, and the formation of committees to coordinate the three sectors: the Pheu Thai Party itself, the House of Representatives, and the Cabinet (which includes party members). The goal is to drive the Pheu Thai Party's growth and progress in preparation for future elections.
