Phuket: A local community group in Phuket has submitted an official request to hold a public gathering on Friday to express concerns regarding the behavior of certain foreign nationals in the area.
According to Thai News Agency, Saichon Noochet, representing the Phuket Protection Group alongside residents from Patong, Kamala, Karon, and Kathu, submitted the documentation to local authorities, including Patong Police Station and Kathu District Office. The group intends to hold a peaceful rally on Aug. 28 at Patong Beach's Loma Park, anticipating approximately 500 participants.
Organizers stated the demonstration aims to bring attention to incidents involving long-term visitors, specifically referencing certain Israeli nationals. Local representatives alleged instances of legal non-compliance, cultural disrespect, unpaid service fees, and verbal disputes. Group leaders emphasized that the event is intended to promote respect for local laws and customs rather than to express racial prejudice.
The planned assembly includes a public discussion section. Organizers plan to urge the Thai government to step up regulatory oversight of foreign residents, review citizenship status for individuals found violating local laws or engaging in illegal nominee business operations, and inspect property ownership linked to Chabad centers across Thailand.
Separately, in Bangkok, representatives of a business on the nearby island of Koh Samui reported alleged intimidation by foreign visitors to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
Jindarat, owner of Samui Exotic Park, alongside Suk Saknarongdej of the Siam Arsa Group, filed a police complaint detailing allegations of harassment, and arson threats that left them fearing for their personal safety and property, following disputes over park rules.
Jindarat detailed multiple alleged incidents at the park, including refusal to pay entry fees, mistreatment of animals, and demands for refunds after a visitor violated posted safety signs. She stated these continuous disruptions prompted the park to implement a policy denying entry to the group.
CIB officials confirmed they have initiated an investigation to verify the claims and take appropriate legal action.
