Phumtham Urges Thorough Investigation into Missing Military Oil

Bangkok: ‘Phumtham’ expresses astonishment over military claims that 10,000 liters of oil disappeared due to evaporation, urging a thorough investigation by armed forces commanders. He remains skeptical, noting similar claims have been heard for some time.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, who serves as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, addressed reports of a military unit losing approximately 10,000 liters of oil. He acknowledged that such incidents have been reported repeatedly in the past. During a recent meeting with the commanders of the armed forces, which coincided with a ceremony to offer blessings to His Majesty the King, Phumtham emphasized the need for transparency in these matters. Although the incident was reported to have occurred in Bangkok, the specific branch involved was not identified. Consequently, Phumtham called upon all branches to conduct a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the facts.

Phumtham expressed skepticism about the claim that significant quantities of oil could simply evaporate, remarking, “Wow, 10,000 liters evaporate. It must be reasonable. Whatever the claim is, we listen and check.” He urged military journalists to share any relevant information with him so he can be adequately prepared.
