Pickleball Gains Spotlight at Thailand University Games

Nakhon si thammarat: Pickleball has been included in the 52nd University Games in Thailand as a demonstration sport. The Pickleball Sports Association (TPSA) has partnered with the University Sports Committee of Thailand (USCT) to promote this sport at the university level. The games are set to be held at Walailak University from January 21-30, 2027.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thaya Teepsuwan, President of the Pickleball Association of Thailand, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in introducing pickleball to a larger audience, particularly at the university level. This is considered a crucial step for developing future athletes. She expressed gratitude to the University Sports Committee of Thailand for acknowledging the sport's growing popularity, especially among university students.

The association is dedicated to supporting the competition comprehensively, including the provision of competition equipment, medals, and ensuring the presence of ambulances and medical units to guarantee the safety of athletes and participants throughout the event.

The inclusion of pickleball as a demonstration sport offers students the chance to engage with a rapidly expanding sport on a global scale. It also signifies an important step for Thailand in advancing pickleball towards national competitions in the future.

Participants are invited to witness this new chapter in Thai sports history during the Demonstration Sports Competition at Walailak University from January 21-30, 2027.
