Pipat to Meet with Wirat Following Resignation as SRT Governor

Bangkok: Pipat is preparing to invite Veerit to discuss the situation following the news of his resignation from the position of Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). He stated that if he really wants to go, he must let him go.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wirit Amrapal, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), submitted a resignation letter to Mr. Chirut Wisanjit, Chairman of the SRT Board, on September 29, 2015. The SRT Board officially acknowledged his resignation on September 30. Mr. Wirit cited the need to care for his elderly parents and those of his spouse as the reason for his decision.

Reporters recently questioned Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, at the Department of Rural Roads (DRR), about Mr. Wirat’s resignation. Mr. Phiphat stated that he was not yet aware of the matter but would invite Mr. Wirat to discuss the reasons for his resignation.

Reporters further inquired whether the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) board had already been informed of Mr. Wirit’s resignation and if the discussions were aimed at preventing it. Mr. Pipat replied that they would invite him to discuss the reasons for his resignation. He added that if Mr. Wirit wanted to leave, he would have to let him go.
