Plane Collides with Fire Truck at LaGuardia Airport, Killing Pilot and Co-Pilot

New york city: An airplane collided with a fire truck at an airport in New York City while landing, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot. The airport was temporarily closed following the incident.

According to Thai News Agency, the flight tracking website Flightradar24 reported that an Air Canada Express passenger plane collided with a vehicle on the ground at approximately 39 kilometers per hour while landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York City at 11:37 PM local time on Sunday. The aircraft involved was a Bombardier CRJ-900 traveling from Montreal, owned by Jazz Aviation, a partner of Air Canada Express.

NBC News, citing sources, reported that both the pilot and co-pilot died and dozens were injured, including two police officers who were in a fire truck that was struck. At the time of the incident, the plane was carrying 76 passengers and 4 crew members. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has temporarily grounded all aircraft at LaGuardia Airport. The airport is expected to handle more than 30 million passengers in 2025.
