PM delighted with ‘free visa’ for Taiwanese and Indian tourists, hitting record high

Bangkok, The Prime Minister is pleased that the 'visa-free' policy has already shown results after Taiwanese and Indian tourists hit a record high, likely to be higher than in 2019. He asked the tourism sector to prepare themselves. Prime Minister Settha Thavisin posted that this year, Taiwanese and Indian tourists have traveled to Thailand at a record high compared to the number of tourists after COVID-19 and are likely to be higher than in 2019. In the past, we have had visa exemptions for Indian and Taiwanese tourists by extending the stay period to 60 days, starting from the end of 2023 and extending the project until November 11, 2024. The Prime Minister said that cooperation from all sectors is making tourism recover continuously. In just the first half of 2024, we have already attracted more than 30% more tourists from a large market like India and expect to increase to 2 million by the end of this year. We are also moving forward to extend the 60-day stay period to another 93 countries to increase the number of tourists with high spending power per capita.
