Bangkok: Police have closed Phitsanulok Road in front of Government House early this morning to prepare for a protest against the proposed Integrated Entertainment Venue Act. Officers have also set up blockades at the Chamai Maruchet Bridge, aiming to maintain peace and order as the protest is expected to commence at 09.00.
According to Thai News Agency, authorities have announced the closure of traffic routes around Government House, including Phitsanulok Road, Phanitchayakarn Intersection, Chamai Maruchet Bridge, and Suan Misakawan Intersection. These measures are in response to the gathering of groups opposing online gambling and entertainment complexes. Commuters are advised to allow extra time for travel and seek alternative routes to avoid congestion in Bangkok during rush hour.
Today’s protest is attracting several groups, including the Student and People’s Network for Thailand Reform (SPNRT), the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), the Dharma Army, the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), and the Thai Labor Solidarity Confederation (TLDC). These organizations are uniting against the Integrated Entertainment Venue Act, expressing concerns over online gambling and entertainment complexes.
