Nonthaburi: Doctors revealed that Pol. Col. Thongchai suffered an injury to an artery, lost a large amount of blood, and subsequently passed away. The director of Phra Nang Klao Hospital revealed that Police Colonel Thongchai sustained injuries to his carotid artery and died from severe blood loss.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Sakol Sukphrom, director of Phra Nang Klao Hospital, revealed the progress of treatment for Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, the president of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, who was shot by Mr. Chalong Riangrang, a former MP. He stated that he expressed his condolences for the incident and that the hospital has provided full medical treatment.

Pol. Col. Thongchai passed away at 2:36 PM. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the carotid artery, resulting in massive blood loss. The exact location of the bullet will be determined by the Forensic Institute of the Police Hospital. The bullet caused damage to the blood vessels, which was the primary cause of the extensive bleeding and ultimately death.

At the scene, CPR was attempted, and an ambulance was dispatched in a timely manner. Upon arrival at the hospital, life-saving procedures were performed according to standard medical protocols, leading to surgery to close and repair the blood vessels that were causing massive bleeding. Over 30 bags of blood, blood vessels, and platelets were administered.

Regarding whether the injuries were severe at the scene, Dr. Sakol stated that that question should be directed to the police, but by the time they arrived at the hospital, their condition was considered critical.

As for the injured driver, he is still being treated at Phra Nangklao Hospital. He was shot in the right arm and underwent surgery. He is currently in a recovery room. However, the body of Pol. Col. Thongchai will be sent for autopsy at the Forensic Institute of the Police Hospital.
