Police denies purchasing plywood bulletproof vests

Sakon Nakhon, The police arsenal has denied purchasing any plywood bulletproof vests, while the chief of Sawang Daen Din Police Station in Sakon Nakhon Province has punished a police sergeant major who posted a photo that damaged the police image. Sawang Daen Din Police Station, Udomthammaphakdi Road, Tambon Sawang Daen Din, Amphoe Sawang Daen Din, Sakon Nakhon Province, Pol. Col. Aphirak Sriharaksa, Superintendent of Sawang Daen Din Police Station, issued a clarification letter stating that according to the social media channel, a Facebook page posted a picture of the material inside a bulletproof vest with a symbol similar to that of the Royal Thai Police and posted a message criticizing the said equipment as being ineffective. Sawang Daen Din Police Station has verified the name of this Facebook user. The verification results show that this user is Pol. Sergeant Chatchanom, position of commander of the crime prevention and suppression unit, Sawang Daen Din Police Station, who is a police officer under t he Sawang Daen Din Police Station. The commanding officer has ordered Pol. Sergeant Chatchanom to report and clarify the matter through the hierarchy and has verified the facts. Therefore, I would like to clarify the details as follows: 1. The message and picture of the armor plate from the post is not equipment that was issued from Sawang Daen Din Police Station, Sakon Nakhon Province in any way. Pol. Sgt. Maj. Chatchanon has received the picture forwarded from many sources. He does not know the source of the information. He has not checked its accuracy or reliability, which has led to misunderstanding and may affect other agencies or individuals. 2. The post that caused the misunderstanding was done by Pol. Lt. Col. Chatchanon without knowing the consequences and without careful investigation. He did not intend to cause any harm to the government agency or any other person. 3. The commander has ordered Pol. Sgt. Maj. Chatchanon to explain the facts and reasons according to the hierarchy and has consider ed that Pol. Sgt. Maj. Chatchanon has committed an act that has caused damage to the government, which is a minor disciplinary offense. He has confessed and will be punished with a warning. Pol. Maj. Gen. Nirandorn Sirisangchai, Commander of the Ordnance Division, Logistics Office, Royal Thai Police, has issued a letter explaining the case, stating that the Ordnance Division, Logistics Office, Royal Thai Police, has investigated and would like to clarify that the Royal Thai Police has never purchased bulletproof vests or bulletproof plates that use wooden sheets as bulletproof materials. The purchasing/acceptance process is transparent, auditable, and complies with relevant laws and regulations. It has been tested according to the international standards of NU (National Institute of Justice), and every bulletproof vest is guaranteed if a wearer is injured or killed by a bullet that passes through the armor. However, if any police officer or agency finds a bulletproof vest with such characteristics or has do ubts about its quality, it can be brought for testing at the Weapons Division, Logistics Office, Royal Thai Police.
