Police Fatally Shoot Armed Intruder at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Resort

Palm beach: Police fatally shot a young man carrying a gun who stormed Trump's house. U.S. authorities fatally shot a 21-year-old suspect carrying a handgun and a gasoline can in an attempt to break into President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

According to Thai News Agency, US VIP security officers and local police responded to a security breach at President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, during the early hours of Sunday morning. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Austin T. Martin from North Carolina, was armed with a handgun and carried a gasoline canister as he trespassed into a secured area. Officers on the scene ordered Martin to surrender his weapon and the canister, but he instead raised his gun in a threatening manner, prompting the officers to open fire and fatally shoot him. The incident occurred while President Trump was in Washington, D.C., attending a governors' association banquet.

Authorities have not released any further information regarding the motive behind the incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has commenced an investigation, gathering evidence from the scene, but has yet to provide additional public statements.

This event marks another instance where officers have dealt with armed suspects during their duty to protect President Trump. In September 2024, Secret Service agents foiled an assassination attempt at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The suspect, Ryan Routh, was apprehended and later convicted, receiving a life sentence for his actions.

A separate incident occurred in July 2024, when President Trump sustained a minor injury while delivering a campaign speech in Butler, Pennsylvania. During this event, a bullet grazed his ear, resulting in the death of an attendee and serious injuries to two others. The assailant, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was subsequently shot and killed by police at the scene.
