Police Investigate Newborn’s Death in ICU at Ang Thong Hospital

Bangkok: Ang Thong: Ang Thong Provincial Police, in collaboration with investigators from Sam Ko Police Station, are diligently working to collect evidence and analyze CCTV footage to expedite their investigation into the tragic death of a 5-day-old newborn baby in the pediatric ICU at Ang Thong Hospital.

According to Thai News Agency, the parents of the deceased infant, alongside police officers from Sam Ko Police Station and forensic investigators, conducted a thorough inspection of the scene. This included examining the parking area used for a catering event and reviewing CCTV footage from inside the hospital building. The parents have expressed their dissatisfaction with the hospital's explanation of events, highlighting inconsistencies between the CCTV footage and the official account. They emphasized that their quest is not for financial compensation but to ensure that such an incident does not recur, sparing other families from similar grief.

In the course of their investigation, police are not only gathering physical evidence and reviewing surveillance footage but are also preparing to issue summonses. The owner of the catering business and other relevant parties are expected to be called in for further questioning in the upcoming week.
