Bangkok: Police Lieutenant Colonel Surawut Rangsaip has been transferred to the position of Deputy Director-General of the Department of Corrections. He revealed that he had requested the transfer a long time ago.
According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Justice has moved Pol. Lt. Col. Surawut Rangsaip from his role as Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to the new position within the Department of Corrections. Pol. Lt. Col. Surawut disclosed that he had previously expressed his desire for this transfer, which was only recently formalized.
The official transfer order was issued on February 2nd, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice as Ministry of Justice Order No. 26/2569. Pol. Lt. Col. Surawut stated that although he had voluntarily sought the transfer, the confirmation of the order came only recently.
Pol. Lt. Col. Surawut took on the role of Deputy Director-General of the DSI on February 3, 2025. During his tenure, he was involved in numerous significant cases such as bid rigging, the collapse of the State Audit Office building, nominee cases, collusion in Senate elections, and the investigation into an MOU concerning iris scanning for cryptocurrency (Worldcoin). The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society determined that the MOU was invalid, and the case has been referred to the DSI as a special investigation.
