Police Officers Must Not Refuse Duties Amid Fuel Price Volatility: Commissioner General Stresses Commitment

Bangkok: The Commissioner General of Police has reiterated that police officers must not refuse to perform their duties despite the challenges posed by volatile fuel prices.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, disclosed that Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, the Commissioner General, has issued instructions to all levels of police officers. He underscored the necessity for police to remain committed to maintaining peace, order, and the safety of life and property, even amidst budgetary pressures caused by fluctuating fuel costs.

The Commissioner General emphasized the importance of selflessness and duty, prohibiting any refusal to perform responsibilities or acceptance of undue benefits. This directive is clear: all police units must perform their duties diligently and with integrity.

In response to complaints regarding police misconduct, particularly allegations of officers demanding fuel fees for on-site investigations, a fact-finding committee has been established. Should any wrongdoing be confirmed, the Royal Thai Police has assured that strict disciplinary measures will be enforced to uphold the integrity of the force.
