Bangkok: Police have taken three suspects into custody in connection with the murder and concealment of a marijuana dealer's body in a plastic box. They are seeking a court order for detention and opposing bail. The alleged stabber showed no remorse, smiling and laughing, vowing not to apologize until the deceased appears in his dream to apologize for insulting his parents.
According to Thai News Agency, progress has been made in the Don Mueang murder case. Yesterday, police arrested three suspects on arrest warrants: Supakorn, 27, the alleged stabber; Kritthanat, 24; and Chayapol, 27. They are charged with intentional murder and concealing a corpse. The suspects allegedly stabbed Chaisit, a marijuana dealer, to death, then stuffed the body into a plastic box and buried it in a marijuana planter. The incident occurred at a residence in the Don Mueang area in the early hours of June 15th.
Earlier this morning, investigators from Don Mueang Police Station took the three suspects to the Criminal Court to request a first remand order. The request included an objection to bail, citing the heinous and shocking nature of the crime. As the suspect walked to the police vehicle to be taken to court, reporters attempted to question him on several issues, particularly the motive for the murder.
Supakorn, the assailant, responded to reporters with no remorse, saying he always smiles and insisted he had no intention of stealing the deceased's possessions. He emphasized that he was insulted with remarks about his parents first, and that he dislikes being insulted or spoken to disrespectfully. Regarding marijuana, he insisted he was not involved and had no problem with it. He also denied that any senior figures on his side ordered him to commit the crime. He declined to answer questions about the alleged ritual of tying a sarong across his chest to suppress the deceased's spirit.
Finally, Mr. Supakorn said that he wanted to apologize to the deceased's family, but as for the deceased himself, he would have to wait for him to appear in a dream to apologize to him first. While being led to the police vehicle before leaving the station, reporters observed that Mr. Supakorn had a smiling expression throughout, unlike the other two suspects who looked tense.
Initially, Mr. Supakorn confessed to stabbing Mr. Chaisit to death after being angered by accusations of stealing a watch and being insulted with remarks about his parents. They arranged to meet at the victim's house to resolve the conflict, but the situation escalated, leading him to use a knife he had brought with him to fatally stab him. A background check revealed that Mr. Supakorn had previously been prosecuted for theft at a government facility in the Don Mueang Police Station area in 2021. At that time, he was a conscript in the Air Force. Mr. Kritthanat has a history of evading military conscription, and Mr. Chayapol has no prior criminal record.
