Narathiwat: Two suspects involved in the shooting death of a police officer at Tak Bai Police Station were killed during a police shootout, with authorities actively searching for one remaining suspect.

According to Thai News Agency, a tactical operation led by high-ranking officials, including Pol. Lt. Gen. Piyawat Chalermsri and Pol. Lt. Gen. Nophasil Phoolsawat, resulted in the deaths of two suspects believed to be connected to the murder of a police officer in Narathiwat Province. The suspects were surrounded in a house located in Tambon Kia, Sukhirin District, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

The incident traces back to August 2nd, when a group of criminals engaged in a shootout with officers, resulting in the deaths of two police officers from Tak Bai Police Station and injuries to four others. The confrontation took place in an oil palm plantation in Moo 6, Phai Wan Subdistrict, Tak Bai District.

On August 5th, the operation to apprehend the suspects was conducted by a coordinated team from various police divisions and the Border Patrol Police Special Operations Unit. During the mission, the suspects opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response that left two suspects dead. They are initially identified as Saman Mali and Abdulmuklis Puteh, though forensic confirmation is pending.

The search for the remaining suspect continues, with authorities warning the public against aiding the fugitive. They have stated that anyone providing shelter or assistance will face legal consequences.
