Chonburi: Police have revealed that the case of Mingchen Shan, a 31-year-old Chinese suspect, is linked to a Cambodian scammer gang and has no connections to any Thai politicians. Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, announced significant progress in the investigation.
According to Thai News Agency, the investigation into Shan's case was expanded following a car accident in Chonburi province. This led to a search of his luxury residence in Pattaya, where police seized a cache of weapons, including C4 explosives, an M16 rifle, and hand grenades. The investigation uncovered additional evidence such as witness testimonies, financial transactions, forensic evidence, and digital data. This evidence revealed chat history, weapons training, and weapons accumulation dating back to late last year.
Further investigation has established a connection between Mingchen Shan and a Cambodian scammer gang. While there are rumors about the suspect being hired for assassinations in Cambodia, the police are thoroughly investigating before confirming any details. Currently, there is no evidence linking any Thai politicians to Mingchen Shan.
