Poo Mantana to Appeal Defamation Verdict Against Lukmee

Bangkok: Poo Mantana respects the defamation verdict in the case against Lukmee, which sentenced her to 2 years in prison, fined her 60,000 baht, and suspended the sentence. She will exercise her legal right to appeal.

According to Thai News Agency, following the court's scheduled reading of the verdict in the defamation case between veteran actress Poo Manthana (Ms. Manthana Himathongkam) and famous model and actress Lukmee Rasmi (Ms. Rasmi Thongsiripraisri), who filed a lawsuit against her for defamation by publication, the verdict was delivered today, March 4, 2026, in courtroom 403 of the Bangkok South Criminal Court.

The court ruled that Poo was guilty under Sections 326, 328, and 393 of the Criminal Code, constituting a single act violating multiple provisions. She was found guilty of defamation by publication, the most severe offense, and sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of 60,000 baht. The prison sentence was suspended for two years, with a one-year probationary period during which she is required to report to a probation officer three times and perform 48 hours of community service.

Following the recent court ruling, Poo posted a message on her personal Facebook page stating, "Poo respects the verdict of the lower court and will exercise her legal right to appeal so that the facts can be fully considered in the judicial process."

Poo has already had her lawyer pay the 60,000 baht fine on her behalf before avoiding the media by walking back through the courthouse entrance and refusing to give any interviews.
