Bangkok:The government has announced that the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has restored electricity to the Khlong Chan and Rom Klao housing communities. Urgent inspections are underway to ensure the electrical systems' safety in areas affected by flooding, with public safety as a top priority. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that flooding in the Khlong Chan housing estates in Bang Kapi District and Rom Klao housing estates in Lat Krabang District had impacted residents. The government instructed the MEA to conduct safety inspections and restore electricity to alleviate the community's difficulties. Ms. Ploytalee reported that power has been restored from the second floor upwards in safe areas, following continuous inspections and safety assessments. In areas with high water levels, the MEA temporarily disconnected power equipment to prevent hazards, with plans to gradually restore power as conditions improve . The Prime Minister has directed MEA officials to expedite operations while prioritizing safety. Residents in flood-affected areas are advised to have qualified technicians inspect electrical systems and equipment before use. If any equipment is damaged or an electrical leak is suspected, residents should avoid contact and reach out to the MEA for assistance at 1130, available 24 hours a day.
