Prasert to Discuss Welfare and Regulations for Islamic Schools

Bangkok: "Prasert" is set to discuss welfare and regulations for establishing "Pondok" and "Tadika" schools tomorrow. Mr. Prasert Chantharawongthong, Minister of Education, will hold talks with Islamic boarding schools (Pondok) and Islamic religious schools (Tadika), with the Secretary-General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPC) joining the discussions on welfare and establishment regulations.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Prasert will meet with administrators of private religious schools in the southern border provinces at the Ministry of Education. The discussions will focus on additional welfare proposals submitted by the schools and on certain registration restrictions that the schools seek to have waived. The Minister will consult with the Ministry to determine how this can be achieved according to regulations.

Today, executives from both institutions are holding discussions with security agencies. Tomorrow, Mr. Piyasiri Wattanavarangkul, Secretary-General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center, will also join the discussions.
