The deputy prime minister in charge of security said security authorities have been ordered to probe into a series of bombings and burning of electric supply power poles, telecommunication poles, and car tyres in the four southern provinces had any political link to the promulgation of the new constitution.
Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said he ordered the probe after several violent incidents happened simultaneously in Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat last night and early today.
But he admitted that security authorities have earlier warned of the attempted attacks during this period, and have placed all security on alert.
Gen Prawit said the government will still keep Section 44 in force as the country remains unstable.
He was commenting on call by political parties to relax the order and to allow them holding political activities after the new constitution is now in place.
