Privy Council president and statesman Prem Tinsulanonda will on Wednesday open his Sisao Thewes residence for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to lead cabinet members and top brass to wish him a happy 95th birthday.
Gen Prem was born on Aug 26, 1920.
Lt Gen Pitsanu Putthawong, chief of the office of the Prem Tinsulanonda Foundation, said in addition to Gen Prayut, others expected to attend include Gen Prawit Wongsuwon, deputy prime minister and defence minister, Gen Sirichai Dithakul, permanent secretary of defence, Gen Worapong Sanganet, the supreme commander, and the commanders-in-chief of the armed forces.
He said this would be the only group of well-wishers at the Sisao Thewes residence on Wednesday morning for breakfast. The time for them to formally express their best wishes would begin at 9am.
Other groups or individuals could only send birthday cards as there was no room for more guests at the residence.
The old army club, which was normally used for this occasion, had been demolished to make way for the construction of a museum and a new army auditorium, Lt Gen Pitsanu said.
