Bangkok: The President of the National Assembly has extended his wishes for a joyful Songkran and urged citizens to prioritize safety on the roads during the festivities.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, who serves as both the President of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, conveyed his best wishes to the Thai people for the Songkran Festival, a significant occasion marking the Thai New Year. He expressed his hopes for the well-being and prosperity of the nation, particularly concerning the economy. Despite the global economic challenges, he emphasized the need for collective effort to ensure economic growth and stability for future generations.
Mr. Noor Matha also highlighted the importance of road safety as many people travel to reunite with their families. He noted the rise in accidents during previous festivals and urged drivers to avoid alcohol consumption and reckless driving. He stressed the importance of abiding by traffic laws and taking advantage of government-provided facilities, such as rest stops and advisory points, to ensure a safe journey. He expressed hope for a significant reduction in accidents, particularly on secondary roads and involving motorcycles, and reminded everyone of the value of life.
