Prime Minister Addresses Concerns Over Diesel Price Freeze Impact

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has acknowledged that lifting the diesel price freeze will impact the public, but he is currently unaware of any disputes over fuel. He emphasized that ministerial mechanisms will be needed to address the issue.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul commented on the ongoing energy crisis, which has reportedly led to public conflict and competition for oil resources. However, when questioned about the matter, he refrained from providing specific answers, stating, "If you ask me about this, I won't answer."

When asked whether the crisis required government intervention, Mr. Anutin admitted he was not aware and had not received any formal reports on the situation. This raises concerns about the government's preparedness to handle potential disputes that may arise from the lifting of the diesel price freeze.

In response to a query about the potential consequences of freezing diesel fuel prices on the cost of goods and the overall livelihoods of citizens, Mr. Anutin conceded that there would indeed be some impact. He stressed the importance of utilizing the mechanisms available within various ministries to mitigate these effects.

Addressing the management of public sentiment during this challenging period, Mr. Anutin assured that efforts are underway, with all relevant parties working to address the situation. The focus remains on minimizing disruption and ensuring that any negative outcomes are effectively managed.
