Prime Minister Addresses Energy Crisis Amid Middle East Conflict

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has confirmed that the new government is intensifying its efforts to address pressing issues and improve the quality of life for citizens. In a recent message, he emphasized that forthcoming measures will be announced to tackle these challenges.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, expressed concerns via a Facebook post regarding the escalating conflict in the Middle East. He highlighted that the conflict has now expanded to include attacks on infrastructure and oil refineries, posing a potential global energy crisis. He warned that the situation is likely to deteriorate further and could take a prolonged period to resolve. This development is expected to pose challenges beyond the rising oil prices, as importing oil will become increasingly difficult. Thailand, which relies heavily on crude oil imports, is anticipated to face significant hurdles despite its relatively high oil reserves.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of enhancing awareness and understanding of the situation to effectively manage domestic oil prices and mitigate the impact. In response to the crisis, the Cabinet has decided that civil servants should work from home to conserve energy. The government has called for cooperation from both public and private sectors to adopt energy conservation measures. This includes promoting work-from-home practices, reducing reliance on personal vehicles in favor of public transportation, and encouraging carpooling and mindful electricity consumption.

Today, the new cabinet will be sworn in before His Majesty the King, marking the official commencement of the government's administration. The Prime Minister assured the public that the new government is committed to swiftly resolving issues and removing obstacles to enhance the well-being of the people.
