Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Announces Success in Crackdown on Scammers and Transnational Crime

Bangkok: The Prime Minister himself presided over the press conference announcing the results of the crackdown on scammers and foreign nominees. The Prime Minister and the Police Chief led a press conference on the results of the crackdown on scammers and transnational nominees. They expressed satisfaction with the dedication of all agencies, noting that this has improved Thailand's international credibility. They also noted the good fortune of having a friend in the position of Police Chief and emphasized that there is no need to fear in their work.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, also serving as Minister of Interior, together with the Royal Thai Police and Police General Kittirat Panpetch, Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, announced the results of operations in suppressing scammers and disrupting transnational nominee networks. The Prime Minister stated that combating technology-related crimes, call centers, scammer networks, and nominee organizations is a top priority for the government, as these crimes have a wide-ranging impact and cause significant damage to the public. Therefore, the government has elevated the suppression of these crimes to a national agenda. He has signed a Prime Minister's Office order appointing a steering committee for the prevention and suppression of technology-related crimes and transnational crimes to set policies and operational guidelines, continuously monitor results, and promote cooperation between agencies through the signing of Memorandums of Understanding with 15 agenc ies to increase efficiency and expedite assistance to the public.

The Prime Minister further stated that the problem of transnational crime, particularly groups using Thai nominees to foreigners who exploit legal loopholes and employ Thai nationals as nominees, is another issue the government is urgently addressing. The government is intensifying efforts to prevent and suppress the use of technology in illegal businesses to protect the rights of Thai citizens, maintain economic stability, and ensure national security. He acknowledged that these efforts will face challenges both locally and internationally. And outside the area, including government agencies, but by adhering to the principle of anonymity and focusing on specific actions, we are able to deal with offenders and continuously report progress to the public. However, the intention of the government and related agencies is to alleviate suffering, promote well-being, maintain peace, combat drug trafficking, and conquer criminals, which has received full cooperation from all parties. We are pursuing all measures with a challenging attitude and will not tolerate any illegal activities.

The Prime Minister further stated that, as the head of government, he considers himself fortunate to have a friend who is the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police. This allows him to convey his anger and outrage when he witnesses illegal acts on behalf of the people and to protect their interests. He assured everyone to do what is beneficial, no matter what they face, and that they have no worries whatsoever.

'My government is committed to combating, preventing, and suppressing these issues because scammers and transnational crime are a national priority. They damage the country's reputation, erode confidence, and discourage tourists, causing significant hardship. Therefore, we have been working to strengthen the country and restore international trust, and we have reached a level where we are beginning to regain that trust, propelling the country to the top ranks. As Prime Minister, directly overseeing the Royal Thai Police and related crime suppression agencies, including the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), I commend all officers who have worked diligently without fear of temptations, distractions, or influences,' the Prime Minister said.
