Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Arrives in Songkhla for Sadao Customs Checkpoint Opening

Songkhla: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul arrives in Songkhla province to prepare for the opening of the Sadao Customs checkpoint, together with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul arrived in Songkhla province to officially open the Sadao Customs checkpoint, along with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and to receive flood relief funds from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

During his official visit to the Federation of Malaysia, at 8:00 AM local time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, also Minister of Home Affairs, and his wife departed from their hotel to the Bunga Raya Complex VIP lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. They then traveled to Wing 56 in Songkhla Province to preside over the opening ceremony of the new road connecting the Sadao Customs checkpoint in Songkhla Province with the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint in Kedah State, Malaysia, together with Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to the reception building at the Sadao border checkpoint in Songkhla province to participate in a ceremony for the handover of a US$2 million grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Ministry of Finance has signed an agreement to accept this grant from the ADB after the Cabinet approved it on behalf of the Thai government. The grant will be used to restore areas affected by the 2025 floods in Songkhla province.

Before proceeding to the border crossing area to preside over the opening ceremony of the new road connecting the Sadao Customs checkpoint in Songkhla Province, Thailand, with the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint in Kedah State, Malaysia, and to have lunch on the Malaysian side, hosted by the Malaysian Prime Minister in honor of the Thai Prime Minister and his delegation.
