Bangkok: The Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, has deferred questions regarding the 500 billion baht loan decree to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapas. The Prime Minister confirmed a forthcoming Economic Cabinet meeting scheduled every Monday, aimed at addressing key economic issues and policies. Anutin also revealed plans for discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on agricultural trade between Thailand and China.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin, who also serves as the Minister of Interior, announced that the upcoming Cabinet Economic Meeting will include representatives from the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Thai Bankers' Association. This inaugural meeting is expected to cover a range of topics, such as economic stimulus measures and government policies, as well as the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project. Anutin refrained from commenting on the proposed 10% tax increase, emphasizing instead that the loan decree issue will be clarified by Ekniti Nitithanprapas. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of measures that benefit the public, aiming to stimulate the economy through increased consumer spending.
Discussions with Wang Yi are anticipated to focus on boosting China's purchase of Thai agricultural products, like rice and fruit, and enhancing investment and technological support. Anutin described the talks as an informal opportunity due to personal acquaintance and stressed that it was an open agenda with no specific commitments disclosed.
In response to inquiries about the missing Thai national flag from a flagpole at the Thai-Cambodian border in Chanthaburi Province, Anutin briefly stated that no report on the matter had been received yet.
