Bangkok: The Prime Minister insists there is no such thing as a VIP for Thaksin. He will not interfere, intrude, or guide others, and will ensure fairness for all parties. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the ongoing scrutiny over whether he would assist former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Supreme Court, returning to Police General Hospital for treatment for a second time. He stated that everything is in accordance with the law, with no interference, and that no actions will be taken outside the rules. He urged confidence.
According to Thai News Agency, when asked again whether this would be in accordance with regulations, Mr. Anutin said there would be no interference to say that this or that would be the case. When asked again whether, in the case of Mr. Thaksin, if a matter is sent to him, he will follow due process without special privileges, Mr. Anutin stated that there is no such thing as VIP status, as there are already laws, regulations, and procedures in place, and he will follow them.
“If you have the right to request something in any way, or meet the criteria, we can’t tell you not to give it. So don’t worry about that. I’ve clearly stated that I will not interfere, intrude, or force anything on you. Everything will be in accordance with the law, with respect for justice for all parties,” said Mr. Anutin.
