Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Inaugurates 69th Khao Suk Road Songkran Festival in Ang Thong

Ang thong: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his wife led the opening of the 69th Khao Suk Road Songkran Festival in Wiset Chai Chan, Ang Thong. The festival, which took place in front of Wat Lat Pet, Tha Chang Subdistrict, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, who emphasized the significance of Songkran as a festival promoting happiness, warmth, and safety for all families. According to Thai News Agency, the event was graced by several high-profile attendees including Mrs. Thanon Charnvirakul, Chairperson of the Cabinet Spouses Committee, Mr. Somsak Prisnanantakul, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office. The ceremony also witnessed participation from local government officials, community leaders, and numerous citizens. During the festival, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior enjoyed the cultural performance "Ruen Ruedee Narumit Maha Songkran" and presided over the opening ceremony. They engaged with the p articipants, spreading joy and partaking in the festivities. Mr. Anutin expressed his best wishes to the people of Ang Thong, highlighting Songkran's role in reflecting the roots and warmth of Thai families. He noted that UNESCO recognized Songkran as an intangible cultural heritage in 2023, underscoring its value and contribution to tourism in provinces like Ang Thong. The festival is themed "My Home Songkran, Colorful Thai Culture, Happiness Worldwide," serving as a platform to showcase Thailand's culture. Mr. Anutin urged participants to celebrate creatively and respectfully, while ensuring safety on the roads by adhering to traffic rules. Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, emphasized the importance of creating tourist attractions in Ang Thong, aligning with the government's policy to promote tourism across all provinces. The festival at Wat Lat Pet and Khao Suk Road is part of these efforts. Mr. Natee Montriwat, Governor of Ang Thong Province, detailed the S ongkran festival's theme, "Coolness Throughout the Land, Grand Songkran, My Ang Thong Home, Colorful Thai Culture, Happiness for All." The festival is scheduled from April 13th to April 15th, 2026, featuring various activities, including a parade for bathing Buddha images, musical performances, and vibrant decorations, attracting tourists and boosting local income. The Prime Minister and his wife took part in traditional activities, pouring water over Buddha statues and joining in the Songkran water festivities. Their participation, including dancing and singing along Khao Suk Road, energized the event, with children enthusiastically interacting with the Prime Minister.
