Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Inspects Gas Stations and Emphasizes Road Safety During Chanthaburi Visit

Chanthaburi: Playing the role of a former gas station attendant, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul conducted random stock checks at gas stations in Chanthaburi and explained the price control measures. The visit was part of his broader inspection of road safety measures for the upcoming 2026 Songkran festival, underscoring the "Don't drink and drive" campaign.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by Chanthaburi Governor Montsit Paisalthanawat and other local officials, visited a checkpoint at Phlapphla Narai Subdistrict Municipality. This visit was part of a 7-day road safety campaign, where the Prime Minister distributed dried food and drinks to officers, emphasizing the importance of adhering to road safety measures. The inspection showed that preparations for the festival were on track.

The delegation then conducted a surprise visit to the Shell gas station in front of Charoensuk Market to assess the fuel retailer's readiness. The inspection confirmed that the gas station was well-prepared, with sufficient fuel reserves to cater to the increased demand during the Songkran festival.

Furthermore, Mr. Anutin addressed media questions about fuel pricing, stating that while price adjustments must align with global market trends, the government has implemented measures to control refining and marketing margins. These measures, combined with the current decline in global oil prices, allow for more favorable domestic retail pricing.

Concluding the visit, the Prime Minister and his team paid respects to significant sacred sites, including the City Pillar Shrine of Chanthaburi and the Shrine of King Taksin the Great. At Wat Thong Thua, Mr. Anutin received a sacred amulet, "Phra Yod Thong," from Phra Khru Charukhemakorn, Ph.D., as a gesture of good fortune for the Thai New Year.

In his role as a former gas station attendant, the Prime Minister also made an impromptu inspection of a gas station, filling his own car with fuel and highlighting his personal connection to the industry.
