Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Inspects Shopping Malls for Efficient Product Distribution

Bangkok: The Prime Minister inspected shopping malls to check the efficiency of the product distribution system. Following a price survey of goods at Lotus Bangkapi after the government's "Thai Helps Thai" project, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, along with Commerce Ministry Permanent Secretary Wutikrai Leewiraphan, Prime Minister's Assistant Rachada Thanadirek, and Bhumjaithai Party list MP and former Prime Minister's secretary, gave an interview at 3:20 PM stating that the visit wasn't exactly a random inspection. He explained that he was interested in seeing how effective the distribution of consumer goods at lower-than-normal prices was, and that Lotus Bangkapi was the first stop. The store manager reported that many items were priced lower than usual, though perhaps not familiar brands, as marketing costs were eliminated. He encouraged the public to visit any department store, not just Lotus, as they offer similar products at average prices 20-30% lower than regular prices.

According to Thai News Agency, following the interview, members of the public asked the Prime Minister about the co-payment scheme, inquiring if it could be implemented immediately. The Prime Minister replied that it could. Regarding whether it would be the same as before, he said it would be "plus" the previous version, covering more people with the same amount of money, and possibly running multiple times. He also mentioned that this was before the public reported a poor economy, to which he agreed that once the policies were announced, they could be implemented. The public then asked if there was a possibility of an increased amount of funding. The Prime Minister said it might be done more frequently, depending on the available funds. Regarding the duration, he explained that it would be implemented in phases, similar to the two-month period last time, and wouldn't be extended indefinitely.
