Suphan buri: The Prime Minister opened the Don Chedi Memorial event, commemorating King Naresuan the Great. The Prime Minister presided over the opening ceremony of the 67th Don Chedi Memorial Day, commemorating King Naresuan the Great and continuing to preserve and maintain the historical, artistic, cultural heritage and valuable identity of Suphan Buri province.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, presided over the opening ceremony of the 67th Don Chedi Memorial Festival, held in 2026. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Thanon Nirami, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, the Governor of Suphan Buri Province, the President of the Suphan Buri Provincial Administrative Organization, executives from the Ministry of Interior, members of the organizing committee, heads of government agencies, and the general public.
Upon arriving at the Don Chedi Royal Monument, the Prime Minister lit incense and candles, offered a small golden offering, and paid homage to King Naresuan the Great. He then watched a performance of "Warriors of Naresuan" by the Suphanburi College of Dramatic Arts.
The Prime Minister, in his opening remarks, stated that he felt honored and delighted to participate in the 67th Don Chedi Memorial Ceremony at this sacred and historically significant site. The Don Chedi Royal Monument is an important national historical site, symbolizing the courage, sacrifice, and wisdom of King Naresuan the Great, who restored independence to Thailand. It serves as a source of inspiration and pride for the Thai people. This event is a crucial opportunity to collectively commemorate His Majesty's benevolence, as well as to preserve and maintain the historical, artistic, cultural heritage and unique identity of Suphan Buri Province.
The Prime Minister stated that Suphan Buri Province possesses comprehensive potential and development assets, including a long history, renowned arts and culture, and a celebrated music scene. Its selection as a UNESCO Creative City of Music reflects the province's true creative power and potential. Therefore, the Don Chedi Memorial event is not merely a commemoration of a significant historical event, but also a great opportunity to promote tourism, stimulate the economy, and generate income for the people of Suphan Buri and neighboring provinces.
The Prime Minister invited the public and tourists to visit Suphan Buri province to experience its historical attractions, learn about its arts and culture, enjoy beautiful performances, and purchase local products and OTOP (One Tambon One Product) goods at the Don Chedi Memorial Fair. This reflects the unique charm and identity of Suphan Buri province. He also thanked the organizing committee, government agencies, the private sector, and all those who collaborated to make the 67th Don Chedi Memorial Fair a success.
The Prime Minister then officially opened the 67th Don Chedi Memorial Fair 2026 by striking the ceremonial gong three times, symbolizing progress and prosperity. Following this, he visited OTOP and Blue Flag shops and proceeded to the reenactment site to perform a ritual offering before the reenactment. He lit incense and candles at the altar, placed a wreath at the statue of King Naresuan the Great, and presented a royal hat, sword, and spear to the reenactment performers.
