Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, visited the Samsen Road area on the third consecutive night to oversee the progress of repair works following its collapse. He assured the public that the restoration efforts are on track, with the expectation of the road surface being fully restored within two weeks. While there are no immediate threats to life and property, Anutin emphasized that tunnel repairs will require more time and urged that the work adhere to contractual agreements.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin was accompanied by Mr. Paradorn Prisananantakul, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, and Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture, as they assessed the repairs to the road surface, which has been compromised by a large pothole since September 24. Anutin stated that he has been diligently monitoring the situation, noting that concrete pouring is underway to mitigate further collapses and landslides. He reassured the public that there is no danger to li
fe, as evacuations have already been carried out.

Anutin highlighted the round-the-clock efforts of the officials working to expedite the restoration of Samsen Road. He projected that the road surface will be operational by October 7-8. While the immediate safety of residents and properties is secure, he acknowledged the complexity of repairing the over 10 meters of damaged tunnel. Anutin suggested that discussions concerning responsibility and contractual outcomes will follow as the situation progresses.
