Prime Minister Anutin Oversees Songkran Travel Preparations Amid Public Engagements

Bangkok: The Prime Minister toured the country to see people off on trains returning home for Songkran. Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also the Minister of Interior, traveled to inspect the readiness for travel during the Songkran festival 2026. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Thanon Nirami, and other prominent officials, including Ms. Traisuli Traisaranakul, Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma, Deputy Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin performed traditional rituals at Bang Sue Central Station and interacted with the public. He engaged with travelers, inquiring about their destinations and distributing essentials like waterproof pouches and water bottles. In one encounter, he discussed compensation with Hat Yai residents affected by floods and addressed concerns about fuel prices with a young girl, noting a recent price reduction.

The Prime Minister's tour included inspecting train facilities on the Bangkok Central Station - Padang Besar route, where he identified issues with air conditioning in the carriages and directed the State Railway of Thailand to resolve them. He also interacted with train staff, signed the train operation logbook, and reviewed the locomotive's readiness.

Pol. Gen. Samran emphasized the Prime Minister's focus on public safety and traffic management during the festival season to ensure smooth travel for citizens returning to their hometowns.
