Bangkok:The Prime Minister of Thailand has urged citizens to remain calm and not to panic, assuring them that the country will not face a food shortage. This statement comes in response to recent advice from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) regarding the preparation of a "survival bag."
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed public concerns following the DDPM's recommendation to prepare a "Survival Kit" for sustaining life for 72 hours in any disaster scenario. He emphasized that such measures are unnecessary since Thailand is self-sufficient in food production, with a robust internal food supply chain ensuring food security.
The Prime Minister also touched upon issues related to cyberattacks, highlighting that Thailand's position as an exporter requires careful management of its supply chain by manufacturers in the industry.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister commented on the recent issuance of stricter regulations by Mr. Sophon Saram, Speaker of the House of Representatives, concerning the use of power by parliamentary committees. These regulations require a vote from the assembly to summon individuals for clarification. The Prime Minister dismissed criticisms of governmental monopolization, stating that all actions are in line with laws and the Constitution, and that government officials are prepared to provide information as required by parliamentary committees. He reiterated that the government operates under the Constitution and is dedicated to fulfilling its responsibilities with the trust and mandate given by the people.
