Bangkok: The Prime Minister reassured the public that the Loy Krathong celebrations and the Blackpink concert will go ahead as planned.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has issued a letter providing guidelines for the celebrations. He praised the successful execution of the Blackpink concert during the mourning period, underscoring respect for all involved.
Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed public concerns about the potential cancellation of Loy Krathong festivals in several provinces. He clarified that the Permanent Secretary’s letter outlines the procedures to be followed, ensuring a uniform understanding among government entities. He affirmed that the festivities would not be cancelled.
There have been public expressions advocating for the preservation of the traditional event, highlighting its significance in honoring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The Prime Minister reiterated that activities to honor His Majesty the King have been ongoing and are not limited to the royal funeral ceremonies. These activities will continue, particularly on significant occasions such as the birthday anniversary of King Rama IX. He encouraged the public to be mindful of their actions during this period of mourning and lauded the excellent cooperation witnessed during last week’s Blackpink concert.
When questioned about potential issues with organizing the event, the Prime Minister confidently stated, “There aren’t any. We’ll handle it ourselves. Government officials, in particular, can handle it because we already have measures and guidelines in place. There’s no need to worry about the government.”
