Bangkok: The Prime Minister is considering measures to regulate gas station opening and closing times, and to stop sales between 10 PM and 5 AM, starting after April 20th. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul spoke about the progress of energy management measures, stating that the government is currently considering fuel conservation measures to ensure that Thailand has sufficient oil reserves to meet domestic demand.
According to Thai News Agency, as an initial guideline, gas stations may be allowed to operate between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM. This is expected to be implemented after April 20th to facilitate people's travel home for the Songkran festival.
Meanwhile, the government will expedite the establishment of a new Center for Monitoring and Managing the Conflict in the Middle East (CMC), as the previous one's term expired with the last government. The government affirms that it will strive to find every possible way to determine appropriate energy conservation methods for the current war situation.
Regarding whether a Royal Decree amending and preventing fuel shortages under the Fuel Supply Shortage Act of 1973 is needed to provide further details, the Prime Minister stated that there are channels for every directive, and they are trying to utilize the channels that they can control with the utmost efficiency.
The Prime Minister did not answer when further details of the Emergency Decree on amending and preventing fuel shortages would be announced.
