Bangkok: The Prime Minister convened a meeting of security agencies to discuss the unrest in southern Thailand, following tense discussions and criticism of failed intelligence gathering. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul arrived at Government House to carry out his duties, convening a meeting with relevant security agencies at Khu Fah Building following multiple incidents of unrest in the three southern border provinces.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin summoned Mr. Thanat Suwannanon, Director of the National Intelligence Agency and head of the peace talks for the southern border provinces; Mr. Chatchai Bangchawad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC); Mr. Nanthapong Suwannarat, Deputy Secretary-General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC), Director of the Coordinating Center for Operations Region 5 of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), and Director of the Southern Border Provinces and Multicultural Security Division of the NSC. The talks are expected to assess the situation in the area, particularly regarding intelligence gathering, which has been criticized for being unprepared and having delayed advance notification.
