Prime Minister Heng Criticizes Anutin’s Impulsive Actions Over Local Government Exam Cancellations

Lamphun: Prime Minister Heng has publicly criticized Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister of Interior, for his impulsive decision to overturn the results of local government examinations in response to a corruption scandal. The move has sparked outrage among local officials, who claim it unjustly penalizes honest candidates.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Veeradet Phuphisit, President of the Lamphun Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), expressed his strong disagreement with Anutin's urgent order to invalidate all results from the 2025 local government employee recruitment examination. This decision was made in the wake of the arrest of a corruption ring. Mr. Veeradet took to Facebook to voice his concerns, stating that the cancellation unfairly affects local administrators and candidates who succeeded without any dishonest means.

Mr. Veeradet further criticized the decision as a reckless act by leaders detached from the realities faced by ordinary citizens. He argued that the government should focus on identifying and prosecuting those directly involved in the corruption, rather than punishing all candidates indiscriminately. This blanket action has left many honest civil servants in limbo, impacting their careers and futures.

He also mentioned that conversations with newly appointed civil servants at the Lamphun Provincial Administrative Organization revealed that these individuals had not engaged in corrupt practices to secure their positions. Many had been temporary employees for years before passing the civil service exam and resigning from previous roles. The cancellation places them at risk of sudden unemployment. Mr. Veeradet emphasized that if the cancellation order proceeds, he is prepared to lead a legal challenge in the Administrative Court to protect the rights of those who have earned their positions through honest means.
