Prime Minister Highlights Contributions of Artists on National Artist Day 2026

Bangkok: The Prime Minister delivered a speech on National Artist Day 2026, acknowledging human resources who have made invaluable contributions to the nation, whose works are evident and whose legacy is passed on to future generations.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the public on the occasion, extending heartfelt regards and best wishes to National Artists and all contributors to the nation's art scene.

The government has observed February 24th as National Artist's Day since 1985, in honor of King Rama II, the first Royal Artist of the Rattanakosin era. This day not only commemorates his birth anniversary but also celebrates the artists whose works have gained recognition both domestically and internationally. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of promoting and supporting National Artists, acknowledging their profound knowledge and dedication to creating works that benefit society, the nation, and humanity.

The speech also highlighted the National Culture Commission's decision to bestow the title "Siri Silapin, National Artist" upon Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak for her contributions to Visual Arts (Painting) in 2024. The Prime Minister extended best wishes to Her Royal Highness and expressed hope that she continues to inspire the Thai people.
