Prime Minister Inaugurates FDA EXPO 2026 Emphasizing Thai Herbal Medicine

Bangkok: The Prime Minister opened the 'FDA EXPO 2026 From Local to Global,' highlighting Thai herbal medicine as not just an economic opportunity but a key to pharmaceutical and health security for the Thai people. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of the 2026 National Health Products Expo (FDA EXPO 2026 'From Local to Global') at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister stated that food and medicine are fundamental factors in human and national security. Recent global events, including emerging diseases, natural disasters, global warming, and geopolitical conflicts, highlight the importance of self-reliance in food and medicine. Thailand possesses strong natural resources, biodiversity, and indigenous knowledge, and is repositioning itself as no longer merely an exporter, but as an ally to other nations and a builder of "food security." In the field of herbal medicine, Thailand ranks first in ASEAN and fourth in Asia, an industry that not only creates economic opportunities but also strengthens pharmaceutical security, reduces reliance on imports, and supports public health.

The FDA EXPO 2026 is a strategic platform for promoting Thai entrepreneurs, especially SMEs, to develop health products and innovations, upgrade standards, and increase the value of Thai food, medicine, and herbal products to compete in the global market. Under the concept of "From Local to Global," it is hoped that the knowledge, cooperation, and networks gained from this event will be a vital force in driving the healthcare system and further strengthening Thailand's food and drug security.
