Bangkok: The Prime Minister opened the final round of the Luk Thung and Luk Krung singing contest, part of the Youth Project to Preserve and Conserve Thai Music, organized by the Royal Treasury Department, Season 2. He emphasized the importance of teamwork for achieving success and expressed optimism for the new generation’s role in preserving Thai music.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, presided over the contest’s final round, emphasizing the significance of the “Youth Preserves and Conserves Thai Music” initiative. The event, organized by the Office of the Royal Treasury, is dedicated to fostering youth talent and instilling life skills through music.
The Prime Minister expressed his joy in participating in the event, stating that the project serves as a model for youth development by using Thai songs to cultivate discipline, patience, teamwork, and gentleness. He highlighted that 1,342 youths from across Thailand participated, showcasing their musical talents.
During the event, a brief technical issue with the microphones arose, which the Prime Minister humorously linked to a proverb, stressing the importance of overcoming challenges. He further elaborated on the value of teamwork in music and life, sharing personal anecdotes about playing instruments and the harmony achieved in group performances.
The Prime Minister also noted that music transcends language barriers, fostering trust and cooperation in international settings. He shared personal reflections on the therapeutic role of music and its power to inspire and motivate during difficult times.
Mr. Anutin concluded by emphasizing the societal benefits of music in promoting mindfulness, reducing violence, and fostering sustainable development. He performed the song “Lao Duang Duen” on the saxophone, highlighting his personal connection to music.
The “Youth Preserving and Conserving Thai Music” project, in collaboration with the Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre and other partners, aims to develop youth potential through singing competitions and educational opportunities, ensuring the preservation of Thai cultural heritage.
